Oh and as for call center workers, those already suffered 'mass layoffs' back in the 10s, many replaced by college grads in the Philippines, who will now be replaced by AI. That's actually happening as I type this, I've heard AI on the lines I used to call to speak with a call center worker! They're actually easier to understand and WAY cheaper than a human.
And don't get me started on robotics. Please.
The CEOs and upper mgmt types LOVE this, they can cash out their dividends and move onto the next company. The shareholders murmur their prayers of praise and nod their heads sagely. Aaaaand rinse and repeat.
What comes afterward is FAR MORE IMPORTANT than whether or not what's happening can be called 'mass layoffs.'
