Precedent actually already exists for a number of years that states that AI does not have ownership of what it creates. Copyright requires human intent. The lawsuit that regarded this was when a monkey stole a camera and took a picture. The photographer who owned the camera claimed the copyright belongs to him. PETA, I believe, claimed it belonged to the monkey. The end result was that a human needs to be involved and create something with purpose to own and claim copyright. Therefore the image was public domain and not copywritten to any particular individual.
Otherwise we get into slippery slope situations where you could own something merely by copying it with a printer. The printer created this particular copy does not mean it owns that copy.
