@Njirimara The race in not equal at all to the "Anti-virus vs Hackers" one, Nightshade is a small independent project with minimal fundings they're against a billion-dollar industry, whereas both the hacking and data protection industry brace billions.
Only hope remaining for the artists is indeed legislation but doubt it will happen, especially looking at the AI race between the USA/China, US doesn't want to shoot itself in the foot. They'll do the bare minimum. Maybe in Europe you'll get some protection laws but no one really cares about EU, they're barely relevant in the world stage when it comes to AI.
