Where were you when OpenAI's first DALL-E made headlines?

This all happened VERY MUCH out in the open. Yes, the sudden leap of quality (with modern diffusion models) was, indeed, extremely quick and gigantic, but artificial image generation as such has been fairly widely known about for several years now, and right around the time of GAN models a-la BigGAN is when anyone even _vaguely_ aware of artificial image generation took notice. I'm not even mentioning things that you genuinely had to be "in" to know about (the VQGAN+CLIP combo wasn't exactly headline-level famous), I specifically chose things that articles were written about.
Where were you all these years? How did you miss all of these events?
Don't blame AI developers for YOU being asleep for years. You had all the time in the world to take notice and chose not to.
