Artist do get consent from other artists, that's simply just not true. It's tradition to study from other artists, and copyright law allows people to study other artists work, to which no artist has objected or tried to get copyright law changed to prevent artists from studying their work.
Artists have objected to their work being used to train AI models and are pressuring governments to regulate this around the world.
So it's pretty simple, artists approve of other artists studying their work, they object to AI studying their work. Doesn't permission lay with the artists? How can you define consent for another person?
