Clean and well argued. The evolutionary pathway matters consciousness didn't appear from nowhere, it was forged over billions of years of survival pressure, pain, hunger, fear. The limbic system isn't just hardware, it's the accumulated weight of everything that had to struggle to stay alive long enough to reproduce.
AI skipped all of that. It never had to survive anything.
The honest counter is simply that we don't know if that pathway is the only one possible or just the only one we've seen so far. But as a reason for serious skepticism, it's one of the strongest in this entire thread.
