@iamgly the point of references is to understand anatomy, perspective, proportions etc. for example the limbs and shapes of the lion which AI does NOT generate accurately, or a rabbits motion of hopping that an AI does NOT generate properly yet again. what your describing is 1:1 "inspiration" or "conceptualization" not "references". a simple google of 'the difference between references and inspiration in art' should have set you straight.
