@ilayohana3150 I wasn't interested in bookkeeping or a job in government. I actually wanted to work in Advertising but the college I attended in my hometown didn't have that concentration so I choose to work in healthcare. Before I studied for and tested for a certification I had worked in healthcare in various positions both on the insurance side and for physicians. To answer your question, you do have to look at physician operative reports, know which part of the body they are operating on and then search for the code for the procedure. Not everyone can do this including you since I'm pretty sure you haven't studied biology and anatomy. Physicians have told me before their Medical Coders are invaluable.. they couldn't bill for their patients without us.. until now that AI is being build in specialized ways like just for Medical Coding. Our Hospital even has a Medical Assistant robot.. so until recently this job as needed and the reason its a certified job is because you need the education to do it.
