I am outfitting a van for off-grid living. I don't expect to survive the Age of AI. Anyone who follows AI safety/AI development will have been alarmed at recent developments. AI is beginning a phase that has been feared for some time: being able to modify its own code base. This may be the start of the intelligence explosion, AIs being able to recursively improve their own code with all the force multipliers that implies. The actual end of humans will likely be preceded by several years of chaos - where we miss the signs of a change in AI influence and intent. The problems are manifest, and ppl smarter than myself are prepping for the first time...
