@RiriSeven5625 The only reason art is being stolen is because it was posted on the internet for anyone to copy. The only reason artists are not being compensated for this use is because society has neglected to protect their rights. The only reason this problem exists is because private companies have been allowed to buy datasets from other private companies who have been scraping the internet without truly being allowed to, yet these violations are not being enforced nor punished by the authorities. It's totally a societal problem.
Also, I think it is only a very small percentage of AI art that is very clearly and visibly based on identifiable existing human art - a larger percentage of it is made up of minor elements of many different images (often photos), which is no different to how all art has evolved throughout history. Everything stands on the shoulders of everything else, and it makes no sense to be outraged about it. It's how things have to be. Just ask Darwin.
