Did the mechanics operating mills and lathes before CNC technology automated that process "not have a meaningful job"?
How about laundry women and housekeepers, 90% of whom were replaced by the advent of laundry machines, vacuum cleaners and modern cleaning agents?
What about the spinsters replaced by automated looms, or coach drivers that went out of business when cars came about?
If you think "real jobs" can't be automated away, you clearly don't grasp what automation is capable of.
EVERY occupation with a modicum of regularity can be automated.
The only question is whether it is worth the cost to do so.
