@inlandish Yeah, nowadays most of our interactions with the internet are in some way influenced and moderated by algorithms, something I feel has long gotten out of hand, but that's another topic. So, yeah, I'm aware that all my interactions are in some way processed. But yes, I find it morally objectionable to take that content and then use it to try and one-up the content creator.
On the topic of one form of art being "better" than the other? Not really a thing. Whether or not there is a "soul" in art, something I personally don't really believe in either, what matters is what it makes people feel and if those people will then spend money on it. I can appreciate that some of the results coming out of DALL-E are absolutely stunning and incredibly cool to look at. But I would never spend money on a print of them. Why would I? No effort was really put in. I understand that not all people think like that or even really care, but I think enough people will that human artistry will not be replaced by AI art.
