Just translate the problem so that the potential moves consist of action in the physical world rather than chess moves and the goal is something arbitrary rather than winning the chess game.
Reliably the AI is better able at using the moves to get to the goal than you are. In chess, you lose the game. In the more general 'game' you are dead (because most states of the universe are ones in which you are dead)
