It all depends… If you come back in 50 years, then sure, AI has probably taken over software development.
Is it close to taking over software development today?
The answer is no. I’m a software developer myself, and yes, it helps with productivity to some degree, but it’s far from taking over «advanced» systems needing domain knowledge and keeping track of dozens of systems.
AI shines when making something simple, already made, from scratch.
It’s maybe giving a 10% productivity boost atm for devs working on more complex projects.
