@ann_undefined yes, senior positions are in high-demand and the salaries are very good but I assume the content of the video is aim to newer generations of SWE or other roles like MLOps/DevOps/SRE.
I've been implementing AI/ML products since 2012 for Telecom, RAN and Cybersecurity industries way before chatGPT hype and the outcome has been the same, as the complexity of those jobs decreases and automation did 85% of the job after implementing those products the CEOs removed most of the technical staff and kept 15% of the staff which I personally trained to use these tools.
The same is happening with GenAI tools like cursor. Xcopilot, bolt, lovable..etc
I've been able to tackle a lot of minor and boring JIRAs in no time so most of the companies are extracting the juice from the Senior roles using GenAI (any copilot 15 USD per month or less) to increase productivity and avoid hiring Junior roles to solve and work on the basic challenges or problems.
