@tokellwithit Most of the concepts in photography also apply to AI. If something as simple as "why the shutter button is pressed in the first place" matters, than surely the entire prompt and "why the generate button was pressed in the first place" matter too?
People usually don't just generate a completely random picture. They can specify the environment, characters, colours, lighting intensity and direction, facial expressions, poses etc etc. All the things you chose before pressing a shutter button are things you chose before pressing the generate button.
You claim nothing new ever comes out of it. But what's your definition of "new". Can you honestly say that you've seen a video of an Octopus with a dog's head getting hit by a water melon? Or are you claiming that this concept exists in such a high volume that it can be trained into an AI? I can't believe this actually needs to be explained, but AI isn't who decides what is being generated. That's all on the one writing the prompt.
