Better to use a different model to check (e.g. Gemini to check ChatGPT), but yes, this is one part of the buzz with "Agentic AI", where they run a team of up to 5 chatbots talking to each other about a complex task. The cost rises exponentially because they chatter and argue with each other, but it does improve reliability.
Depending on the length of the chatbot conversion, you also get the problem that they forget what they said if it was more than 5 minutes ago in a busy conversation. I'm serious. 😅 That's a big part of why it's not that simple.
Within a controlled system, having two or three different chatbots checking each other's work is a great way to escalate potential errors for a human to look at, but those systems need to be engineered and designed and tuned to fit requirements, just like all software.
