Excluding investments into AI, we're essentially in a recession and most of these companies aren't generating profits on their investments (yet), so it doesn't make sense to hire aggressively. Most businesses are just testing the waters, nothing that would trigger a shortage of talent, but there's two ways this can go. 1) The trillions in investments actually pay off, and we're all cooked. 2) The trillions in investments don't pay off, the market crashes, everyone is cooked for the next 5 - 10 years until the next hype cycle.
