I do not mean it joking or condescending, I basically tried to explain why it is not creativity, in discussion with artists, as a computer scientist.
Until I had to give up.
I do no know what makes you think it is not "real creativity". Can you give examples?
For example, when an AI reproduces a known work of art with only minor differences, that is the same effect as when a human has seen something so often that he remembers it and can reproduce it.
If a known work is the answer, that means the AI did not need creativity to create an answer, because it literally remembers an answer, like you could remember the answer to an exam question if you read it often enough. Creativity is not always needed, so an AI that can be creative is not always creative.
In GPT-3, you can literally control the creativity with a parameter in the input, "temperature".
Normally, you set it to 0, because you want the least creative correct answer.
If you set it to higher values, like 1, and create 10 different answers for the same question, you see that the answers get somehow more creative, but also less correct.
