They already are choking.
But it's kind of great news to me, a data engineer.
We get asked to build pipelines, sometimes, those AI agentic pipelines.
So in cases we didnt or forgot to factor in the ultra edge cases, the pipeline fails, and we go back to churning data, and companies hire software devs, again.
But in cases where the "vibe-coded" pseudo software devs work, we still keep our job, and we only hire a lead/senior dev to check vulnerabilities and do code reviews all day.
I suggest you switch to data engineering as there's still too few of us and demand is still high. We're like the utility guy everybody forgets we exist.
Like I got hired for a top Bank while barely knowing what a pivot does. And the role for that was to migrate the ecosystem from legacy to the newer ones.
