AI is already solving mathematic and scientific problems that we’ve been trying to work on for decades or centuries. Look at Google DeepMind’s AlphaTensor as an example.
At the end of the day, the VAST majority of “research” is merely analyzing a finite set of data and using it that set to generalize relationships, and that’s something AI is really good at.
