He's not evil, not motivated by greed. He worked his whole adult life on this, motivated by a desire to know how our human brain works. The technology already is very beneficial to us for example in medicine. It can be beneficial in all kinds of fields, like education, science, climate change, etc. He sounds the alarm for us to urgently work right now against a possible future danger of artificial superintelligence taking control. He wasn't responsible for the release of an LLM chatbot to the general public which started an AI race between companies. The technology needs to be regulated asap.
