@ordinaryrat While I think software development is the most affected economically, the art piece is more sinister. Art is subjective, but something that makes art valuable is the humanity and soul. I have an army buddy that is a professional artist. People used to hire people like him for everything, but now they can simply generate (crap out) lifeless AI images to fill ads, book covers, or whatever instantly and at low cost.
I spot AI art fairly easily and it just feels bad. And when people are told something is AI, the art loses whatever it was supposed to bring. It is dead.
I am a painfully analytical person but I understand what art, through music, acting, drawing, painting etc brings to us through the humanity of its creation. AI is robbing us of that, just as it is stealing low level jobs, and occasionally spotting cancer better than a doctor (ok, it is not ALL bad).
I am not sure there IS an answer here, I can't see this improving as LLMs get better, but it is like humans are hell bent on destroying our humanity.
