Agreed. I'm curious how the airline industry got to where it is today. I have no idea. Maybe it could act as a roadmap? I can personally see a future where everyone is safer because all of these autonomous systems are interacting with each other and layers and layers of redundancy. At what point did we trust them with hundreds of lives tens of thousands of times per day? I suspect when a) their training and field testing was much further along than Tesla (who would more than likely rush to market for money) and B) when those three systems were fully trained up like you say. Autonomous systems are going to be under scrutiny until they prove themselves safe and don't commit these really simple stupid screwups that humans in control would almost certainly not make. It seems to me that rushing them to be fully in control risks the entire future of any kind of autonomous driving. I suppose we still don't fully trust flight systems because we still have two highly trained pilots onboard. Thoughts from your experience?
