@canned_kuchie4724 If we ban porn deepfakes we have to ban all deepfakes. This is no different than being deepfaked into a movie or an embarrassing situation. People are only treating these ones differently because they are sexual and sexual material is taboo in our society. In that case, the fact that there is a taboo around sexual content at all is the problem not the deepfake.
On the other hand, the people being deepfaked have a right to send a cease and desist letter to those deepfaking them. You cannot use somebody’s brand without their permission and you can be sued for it.
However, the only reason people are making a big deal out of this is due to the sexual nature of the deepfake. If these same celebrities were being deepfaked into any other nonsexual situation, including violent ones, there would be no uproar at all.
