Might be an improvement in the situation, but I really don’t see how AI could do us any good as a public utility either. Students will become even more reliant on it, companies will still use it to replace tasks that could otherwise be done by a person, and markets for art will be increasingly flooded with AI generated content. And this isn’t even to mention the huge amounts of energy it takes to operate AI systems. The only solution I see is to find a way to ban the use of AI outside of specific contexts like the interpretation of medical and scientific data.
