Sounds more like you desensitized yourself to the point you don't care anymore or realize you're blindly putting your bread and butter at risk with this mindset. How the hell are you going to sit there and say we give humans too much credit when humans are the sole cause of everything around you? Humans have ALL of the credit, even when it comes to creating machines that suck the very soul out of entertainment and hobbies. Who the hell else creates this stuff? Machines are only as smart as the people who are operating them, not the other way around. Anyone with at least one brain cell knows this. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who puts effort into their craft is entitled to feel however they want about it. They put the work in, after all, and no one gets to invalidate that. Your story is nothing but a strawman argument, giving people excuses not to pick up a pencil and create something for the sake of it. "I don't know how to draw" means "I can't be arsed to sit down and learn but I'm entitled enough to complain about it anyway." The way you're going about people creating AI art is like them picking up a damn mind-rotting mobile game. They learn nothing useful or have anything to show for it that they can be proud of that they can put toward learning something new. What happens when technology isn't available? What happens when electricity goes out, or a solar flare or a natural disaster renders phones, internet, etc., useless? What happens when they can't pay for the services needed? What's the excuse then? Why are you advocating for people to take technology for granted? Art supplies are a lot cheaper than some crappy Android phone or tablet and don't need batteries to use. You don't need AI or advanced technology for anything you can't already do or learn to do yourself. Artists and writers are supposed to be encouraging others to be creative and learn new skills that will make them feel a lot more accomplished, not just turn them into Ipad kids by pointing them to gen ai to scratch an itch. That's how we've been doing this crap for centuries, regardless of new inventions. And yes, humans are garbage. I deal with them everyday in retail. Hell, some of them created gen ai servers that scrape the internet to steal from actual artists to be sold for commercial use which threatens the jobs of many because since when do companies care that they're using stolen work? My faith in humanity was close to rock bottom at this point and gen ai is only pushing it lower with how many think it's "wonderful" but can't bother learning how to create something new. AI isn't going to do it for them, it's already going the way of the oroboros, which is why it's all looking the same.
