I've been incredibly fortunate to be part of the laptop class for much of my adult life, working professionally as a writer and journalist since the 2000s. Before that I worked office and call center jobs, and before that retail, now that was rough.
I'm now losing my job to AI, too. What I'm realizing is that our humanity and connections to one another are more important than ever. People are too busy fighting over red and blue to realize what's happening in the world and in technology is going to deeply affect all of us. ALL of us. A handful of tech bros and investors will get filthy rich, the rest of us are in trouble.
I've never looked down on blue collar workers, y'all work HARD. Blue collar workers literally keep the lights on, we should all be thanking them. I always do. So thank you!
