you can worldbuild with it. but it depends on what you actually do with it. learning how to worldbuild, help be inspired, learn what not to do, does this exist already how can i make it unique, or just regular brainstorming your idea are different from "make me this out of nowhere"... like those ai sellers that make books solely made by ai, and credit themselves as the creators. if an ai is sentient like a human, they'd be pissed too.
this is about writing.
if you use generated images though... as long as you use it as "reference" then maybe it will be fine. some artists use everything that they can get as reference such as for color theory. that's the maximum excuse that you can tell to somebody that likes art. they'd be still suspicious about you.
but if you tell them you made those generated images, and you didn't, the ai did, then that's gonna be the problem.
