Because it threatens their livelihood. A lot of these people live off commissions. So the Generative AIs can do what they do much faster, cheaper and with a great end product. Customers will naturally flock to it, rather than unknown artists, to get more for their money and faster.
They either need to do something the AI can't to stay relevant, use it to elevate themselves or be famous so their name is the one with worth. Overall, a very hard situation to be displaced by disruptive technology.
