Me. I’ve been training to be a Graphic Designer for a few years, with the intention that I would be able to support myself from home rather than send job applications to companies who’ll instantly illegally dismiss me because of my specialised assistance/requirements. I thought that was alright, screw that kind of discriminating world, I can just work from home!
Graphic Design is the first one on the chopping block, despite its fascinating history and Human connections, most businesses see it as an unnecessary expense and are already phasing out Graphic Designers. I’ve heard of people in my own country and in others who have lost their jobs because their bosses had fed their years worth of work into generative AI which literally replaced their need to keep them employed—and as corporate Graphic Design is simple and elegant with pre-established rules and standards, AI can replicate it very well.
I’m in my last year of education, effectively heading into a dead end.
