@schnipsikabel I can't claim to be an expert but I have seen nothing to suggest LLMs will reach a level where they are reliable for critical tasks. Certainly I think they could have an impact on the jobs market in the coming years but IMO this "40% unemployment in 2 years" stuff is total BS. Carefully tested LLM-based software may be able to automate a lot of simple tasks but it will still require human supervision. That isn't to say it won't put people out of jobs though, just not on the scale these people predict. Junior software engineers are using LLMs and producing utterly horrible code that is very inefficient, convoluted, insecure and extremely error-prone. Code of such quality has no place in professional use and will wreak havoc in years to come when it starts to cause problems and the people who created it can't solve the problems. It only really takes 1 major incident caused by LLM usage to get into the public's consciousness for "AI" to get a very bad reputation and it will be extremely difficult to restore faith in it.
I think LLMs will very possibly create more problems than they solve.
