Have you considered the possibility that you are putting the human experience on a pedestal when you say “AI can’t think”? Just some food for thought there. We “believe” a lot of things about the human condition but we really have no proof that we are special. Consciousness could still very well be written in logic and nobody has been able to disprove the notion that consciousness or subjective experience is anything more than what it feels like for a human brain to receive the sum of its parts. And given that human thought is just pattern recognition, repetition and prediction on steroids, we are unable to say without a doubt that AI isn’t thinking. We can’t actually prove that. Those generative outputs could be what it looks like to put a visual display on an imagination. Maybe not OUR imagination, but an imagination nevertheless. We don’t know.
