We don't exactly know the inner workings of Google's ai systems, they have been pushing the boundary of AI for nearly 2 decades.
Yes it runs on neural nets, but it's also possible they structured the neural nets in an unconventional way that led to this "sentience."
I just think making a conclusion, when we have no understanding of how the algorithim functions is a bit premature.
