@SugarThyme It's more complicated than just copy pasting pieces of an image. So trying to find a pattern of pixels that matches any single image is impossible as far as I know. In the training it is given the image with varying degrees of noise applied to it. Then through trial and error it tries to reverse it. In the end the result is compared to the original image to see how close of a guess it got. That is why if you ask the AI to make the Mona Lisa it's not going to give you a 1-to-1 replica since it's just an approximation built from the algorithm for denoising images that it developed during training. If Shad was making original characters in the style of Disney unless they make using generators with copyrighted images in the training set a form of copyright infringement Disney can't do anything. Unfortunately the law has not moved fast enough to even decide what side to settle on but we will see what happens Disney also does not own their style, you can't copyright a style for good reason. I personally would be fine if AI art was automatically regarded as public domain that anyone can use and no one has copyright to. I already treat it as such anyway. I still wouldn't wholesale sell it within a product myself. Calling it your own art is the height of cringe though. It's definitely a grey area at the moment but the technology is very important inherently however I say that within a research capacity and not a commercial one.
