I wonder when people stopped enjoying art and started to either treat it as a competition (Human artists are always going to be better than AI!) or a test of skill and worthiness (AI art takes no effort! You make no progress "drawing" that!).
None of this matters. There is a debate to be had about unethical AI use and its issues, certainly. Yet when it comes to just looking at an artwork (or "image", fine), at the end of the day most of us simply want to create something that looks cool. This does. But now, evidently, that comes second.
Oh, by the way, AI art CAN have very unique and distinct artstyles now, though it takes much more effort to develop compared to 99% of corporate-esque AI slop out there. This is actually very scary on one hand, but on the other hand, it does raise the skill ceiling. That's... uh, important, somehow, right?
