@41-Haiku yeah I know about that story, a bunch of phd graduates went to this "Berkley secret meeting" and asked some questions which no one knows because they didn't share, and were impressed by one of the advanced gpt+reasoning models. I tested myself all famous llm chatbots (including deepseek) well enough on even solved and known yet sophisticated math problems to know that it is not true, and until they share which problems exactly they asked the gpt to solve, I'll call that a marketing stunt to impress those who want to be impressed (they can only impress everyone if they actually share the mathematical challenges, not by saying "we did something we won't tell and it was impressive"). And being myself an algorithm engineer who understands the architecture of a LLM, I know why it will necesserily always hallucinate under the current transformers architecture. So, again, no, mathematics is not going to be automated, not even the part in which we are just mining knowledge which nobody noticed we could already have.
