My older brother is a very accomplished programmer and has messed around with AI programming as his own personal projects and it apparently works quite well! But just like AI art it is *only* a tool that quickens the workflow of an experienced programmer. He's talked a lot about how it sometimes does weird things you gotta fix but overall is a very useful tool for a lot of gruntwork. But just like AI art, it is a tool not a crutch. Making AI art weirdly enough *does* classify someone as an artist. It mimics technical skills at the cost of creative control. Does it make someone a good artist? Hell no. It is just another tool that actual artists can and definitely will use to speed up their workflow. Only problem is it lets people feel like they're good at the fancy parts without learning the fundamentals, which leads to a lot of technically competent looking slop. You are not more or less of an artist if all you can do is use AI prompts to make your minds eye come to life, but just because it looks technically sound does not make you "good".
