Actually it will get increasingly difficult to train AI on large data sets taken from the internet as time goes on, because they will be increasingly contaminated with AI-generated text, images etc., creating a feedback loop. So you have to create an AI that can distinguish AI art from human art. But then the better your art AIs are, the harder it will be for your AI art detection AI to distinguish between AI art and human art.
Of course you can stick with training data that was created pre-AI, but then your AI will be forever "stuck in the past".
Also, even without that complication AI won't necessarily get better _for the end user._ It may just get better at making money for the people who own it. Our construction techniques and materials are far more technically advanced today than they were 50 years ago, but at the same time it's become much harder for people to afford decent housing, because late-stage capitalism.
