@AinAemAet Wow, way to entirely miss the point. Charlie's point was that AI generated art shouldn't be copyrightable because it doesn't take talent or large amounts of effort, and it is not created by the direct efforts of the "artist". My point was that taking a photo operates in the same way, particularly a digital photo which isn't even a real photo, but an image created using advanced algorithms, and if that is copyrightable art, then AI art should be as well.
You are also conflating the prep work for taking an "artistic" photo with the photo itself. All that prep work might make a better photo, the same way a lot of prep work with an AI will create a better image, but the actual photo, which is the copyrightable work, is still hitting a button and letting the device do it's thing. Just like an AI generated image.
You are arguing almost the same point as me, not against me, but you are wrong on a key element. The art of the photo is not the photo itself, but circumstances around it that the "artist" has curated or created. The photo is just capturing that moment of artistic expression. If you accept that as true, then AI art should be as copyrightable as a photo.
