We don’t need to. There is no magic on organic material that makes consciousness happen. AI works off a neural network. The human brain IS a neural network, but an extremely complicated one. Eventually, the neural network we make for AI will become more complex than our brain. When that happens, you could say it’s conscious, but because I doubt we would just make an exact copy of the human brain - we can’t prove what it truly has. It may be conscious, it may not be conscious, or any weird shit that’s not those options.
