That's probably just your phone connecting to your car via Bluetooth and realising it's your car. This is incredibly common, and lets you do things like call, play music, set directions, etc from the steering wheel or centre console. There is no omniscient AI drones in your car: it's simply a useful feature.
As for what else it can detect, quite a lot of things. Your phone has many bits and bobs in it that let it do everything from GPS to Face ID to auto-rotate.
