i’m also in software and literally was considering completely switching careers at 36 and becoming an electrician 😂. i use AI (Claude) daily to solve anything that I know it will excel in because the firm i work for has myself as a one man software team so i need to get things done quickly. but i see first hand the level AI has reached and while Claude isn’t coming up with more unique solutions than myself, I know it is a matter of time and I can’t imagine how software development as a field won’t eventually be performed by a fraction of the people it is now
