The difference is that they still posess a lot of human agency over the finest details of the art, the process and the final product itself.
With AI the ONLY human agency and input that you have is the conceptual phase with the prompt. All the rest is up for the AI itself to interpret. You can still call it art and I would not think this is necessarily invalid. But it was not YOU who made it. It was the AI and only the AI as you did not actively participate in anything after pressing "Enter" in the prompt box.
