Doubtful, people these days are pretty aware of the early immaturity of LIDAR-based driverless tech, especially with Tesla's optical tracking tech that had to be reviewed by the govt since Elon lied so much (mostly to his shareholders), and got sued.
We'll think of this sort of thing like we do with most emerging tech, we were all fascinated with it, and kids will just as overwhelmed with it as everyone else is. Tech is moving so fast it's getting difficult for the average person to be 10 years up-to-date with most tech. Most people still don't know anything about VR, EVs, consumer drones, 3D printing, modern computing power and gaming, mapping and scanning technology, and so much more.
