The underlying mathematics of AI, Ito Calculus, was applied to predictive models of macroeconomics by central banks fifteen years ago. What they learnt was was:
1) Processes are not fully described because all the inputs cannot be observed. The important events are not predictable.
2) Causality is not guaranteed, namely the same inputs resulted in different outputs.
You could argue that the absence of these constraints in human thought and communication are the reason why humans are creative.
For evidence see Wittgenstein's Philosophical Investigations (1953) which provides examples which are very similar to LeCun's December 2025 paper describing 'world models'. Earlier in his life Wittgenstein was an atomist, holding the same view of intelligence as is currently presented by CEOs of AI companies, such as OpenAI and Anthropic. The 18th Century Cartesian view that the world was a giant clock, that could be described by equations alone. By the end of his life Wittgenstein had completely rejected that hypothesis.
Wittgenstein's first discipline was mathematics which he later applied to philosophy; Penrose, and many others, reached the same conclusion as Wittgenstein a few decades later from a physics viewpoint.
