Will you be equally outraged once the tech advances enough to the point driverless trucks are statistically safer than human-driven trucks? At that point it makes every bit of sense to keep them on the road, not because it saves corporations money but because it causes less damage (which also means fewer accident-induced traffic jams); this is also why insurance firms are pretty eager for more automated roads since any vehicle will need insurance but driverless ones have potential to drastically reduce insurance payouts if they can be made to be more consistent than humans
Technology leading to changes in job market isn't a new thing and has been around before AI, the important part is how society handles the transition, particularly for those who are displaced - in this sense, I dislike people who cry foul over new tech rather than asking how we can implement the technology properly
