I think AI can become smarter and more efficient than humans but because it lacks empathy, that efficiency has the potential to be ruthless.
If it can reason that an inefficient or currently unproductive machine should be shut down, it can also possibly reason the same about humans, if it's not carefully managed or restrained by us.
