My point with automated production and hand-crafting/carpentry wasn't about modernization. They also "stole" design from carpenters and use it to mass produce items. Yet instead of harming the "artists" it helped to elevate them and give them much more higher/grand opportunity - art vs mass production.
Same with mass production of clothing; now custom pieces are elevated and much more valuable.
