There are several lawsuits that are ongoing already. It will be interesting to see how they come out. I'm not certain if the artists have much of a chance though. In all of the research I have done about AI art and how it actually works, none of the images used to train the art are actually copied and none of them are stored in the AI models either. AI can generate art in similar style to a certain artist, but it does not generate any actual art pieces of an artist. Style can not be copyrighted. Anyone can create art in a style similar to another artist, but even if they attempt to paint the same painting an artist made, in the same style, it still won't actually be the same piece. There are always differences. AI is no different. None of the art created is the same as any of the images used to train the model. It seems to me the only thing they may be able to do is get some kind of compensation if their art was used in the training. Although even that I'm not sure, because as I said, the images aren't actually copied. For instance, if you post a photo online where anyone can see it and I see it and I immediately create a similar image myself that looks very similar, it still isn't your actual image, I only saw it and learned from it. As I say, it will be interesting to see how the lawsuits go.
